No, the IRS does not give stimulus money to 16 year olds even if you file a tax return. At 16, you can still be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return. Dependents are not eligible to receive stimulus money.
If you file a tax return of your own and say that you cannot be claimed as someone else's dependent, you mess up your parent(s) tax return big time. Do not make that mistake.
You can file your own return to seek a refund if your W-2 shows federal or state tax withheld, but on your own tax return you HAVE to say in My Info that you can be claimed as someone else's dependent.
Employers have until February 1 to issue W-2's.
