Your ex spouse can file however he wants.....as long has he doesn't include you in his fraud (if it is such), why do you want to get involved?  You are single now, and you are only responsible for your own tax file, not his.

The only reason to worry about it some, is IF the child in school is supposed to be your dependent and not his...but the only thing you can do about that is to file your own tax return by mail...claiming that dependent yourself, and let the IRS work it out when they send you both letters  But only IF..IF IFFFF you are the custodial parent of that child should you claim the child as a dependent

....if judicial hand-waving was done at the Divorce level as to who gets to claim the school-age child as a dependent on their tax returns, then you need to talk to your lawyer, and to a tax professional after that.  you can't expect anyone here to work out the problems and confusion you are encountering...

Yes, HOH could be used for a now single parent who has a child in college under age 24 at the end of the year.  For divorced couples, it is usually the custodial parent........that may or may not be yourself.

I agree. From what I could discern from all of OP's questions, there may be legal issues here (references to Judge) as well as tax ones.
