What information would I need in order to claim someone that is in jail?

No you cannot claim him. He is not being supported by you nor did he live with you. He is being supported by the institution where he is jailed. Any money you are sending is a gift. Gifts to individuals are not deductible

He's been in there for 5 years this year. He's my boyfriend's. I send him money from time to time been doing so since 2015
