Federal went fine then comes state. All my addresses are correct (I moved in July of 2025) still in the same city and same county. I left my job before I even moved. The state will not give me the option for the correct county to choose. In fact it only gives me ONE option. ADAMS which is not correct as I am in LANCASTER County Lincoln NE.
I've uninstalled the app. Cleared cache data, deleted state to restart that part. Completely deleted all my return info and started over. Still gives me the incorrect county.
68516 (current zip code)
68526 (previous zip code)
BOTH LANCASTER.
Used the usps county finder based on zip code and that just gives me errors. Says incorrect zip used. Did not have this issue last year...

Nebraska forms for either e-file, or Paper file will not be ready until after 22 January.
Thus.....Could be the current input and displays are not fully implemented yet.
Come back and try to change it again on the 23rd.
IF it still doesn't work then, contact Customer Support so they can try...and they will issue a software repair ticket if still needed once the full form-sets have been updated:
Ok so I filed my federal, and yeah says info saved for state for file later
Means I'll still have to manually say like yes file or edit beforehand before its filed hopefully? It won't auto file on the 23rd with the wrong county?
No the state won’t file until you actually go through all the steps to file it. Only you can file it. And you can’t efile state until Federal has been accepted first.
True...as @VolvoGirl said, since you e-filed the Fed part already, you won't be able to E-file the state until after the IRS accepts the Federal file... And the IRS has indicated they will be starting to accept files starting the week of 26 January (except for some few early test files). Since there will be millions of tax files waiting for processing, yours could be dealt with any time in the ~10days after the 26th (one year they encountered some problems and stopped entirely for awhile).
In any case, once the Nebraska forms are finalized, make sure you go thru the NE state questions, form start to finish, to deal with your county problem, and answer any other new questions the software might throw at you.
Ok got it. All the info is ready i just have to go thru all the steps again before I send it. Sorry never filed BEFORE this early lol. Just confused why only 1 county was able to be selected and it wasnt even the correct one...
Yeah, sorry that we don't have any NE specialists in this forum (i.e. those that have the NE software), so we can't tag them to check out the County issue you are having...thus Customer Support may be your final recourse if it doesn't clear up.
Except they want me to pay 29.99 for plus to answer a simple question thats technical related to their software not an issue with me filing my taxes... have always filed free myself never had issues before now.
Were you able to find a solution to your problem? The same thing is happening to me with it saying Adams county. I do live in different county than you though.
Check the 2-letter state code for that zip code. Make sure the city and state match up to the zip code. This error happens when the state code doesn't match what is on file with the IRS. TurboTax follows the IRS for acceptable zip codes. If the state code does not match the correct state, you will get an e-filing error. Correcting the state code is usually the fix. @Colbalt15
