With almost identical income as last year, my tax due shows to be over 25x last year

This year Turbotax Desktop reports a tax due more than 25x my usual amount.

The form does not appear to recalculate when new information is added - it is stuck on a very large tax due.
. The Federal Form has my broker entered 4 times, 3 of the entries show Zero, but the entries cannot be deleted.

. I was unable to enter the SSA-1099 information in the Step or Take me through procedures. I had to find the form and enter the information on the appropriate three lines.

. When I enter any new information, the tax I owe doesn't change.

. The State form clicks send me into a round robin of Continue.

. I cannot reach Review.

Online TurboTax this year is really balky - I've spent hours trying to enter information. For all I know, there's information entered 3x in the background and that's how I'm getting an outta sight Tax Due number.

I think there are serious bugs - and I rely on Turbotax Desktop for my taxes,.

Any plans to fix? I don't know how to start again from scratch.

the file could be corrupted.

I would suggest saving it.

then check for updates the top tab under online.

Once done, try to reopen it to see what happens.

If it opens, switch to forms mode to see if there is a red ! by any line and you'll see (not done)

Those forms, etc. need correction, though that may not be what's causing your issues.

if you imported 1099s etc , sometimes things go wrong. There is an option under File to delete imported data once the return is open. First save the file using a new name

You can contact support, but if the file is corrupt, there's no way to repair it. You would have to start over.

problems can also occur if you don't meet the minimum system specs or if you're using a VM.

I had done all the basics (updtodateTT, restarted, uptodate OS, red items next to Forms).

I didn't know the trick to save the corrupted file (well, I didn't figure on corruption) to a different name and then deleted all imports to start again.

Here's where I initially went wrong due to confusing message of:

Connection established

Please verify the security information below so we can
successfully import your data into TurboTax.

Because there is nothing on the page to say "I verify", I downloaded the imports several times and went round and round with "Log in to Whatever so that Whatever is OK'd by Intuit", or something to that effect.
This time, I imported once, closed the browser, and noted that the imports had succeeded without any verification on my part.

I think I'm on my way. The file is now showing that my percentage tax of my taxable income is at least in the ballpark.

Thank you Mr. Mike,

Sharon
