exactly where are you seeing this. This forum can not see your return or tax data. This is why it's difficult if not impossible to answer your question. As a guess, possibly local income taxes from W-2, 1099s or pass-through state taxes from K-1s. if you can't resolve it, you can allow a TurboTax rep to see some of your data, but if you're using the free edition, there will be a charge.
the other possibility is to start over and look as you enter info for each section, what input generates this.
mike-your tone is not appreciated so no need to respond further.
to clarify, in the personal deductions & credits section of the interview, the subsection of estimates and other taxes paid there is a sub-sub section titled “other income taxes paid”. it’s here that there is an amount that cannot be reconciled and the amount is not on the paper 1040.
I checked my own calculation and it just what was already withheld from my other federal incomes 1099s/W2
Other taxes could be any of the following:
Self-Employment tax
Unreported SS & Medicare tax
10% Early Distribution of Retirement plans penalty
Advance EIC from W-2
Household Employment tax
Etc.
Like some could be for State and local taxes paid...
-any state withholding from your paychecks, retirement checks, unemployment checks, etc.
-a state tax due (for any year) you paid last year
-any state estimated tax payments you made during year including an overpayment applied from last year
-any local taxes withheld on your checks like SDI in box 14 or 19 on your W2
You might be able to click on the amount and see.
If you are looking at a review or summary screen, those lump a lot of stuff together. So look at the actual 1040 return and actual schedules and make sure they are correct.
thank you roger. i tried and that the remaining balance i cannot reconcile.
thank you volvogirl. those suggestion were also considered (i appreciate the wide swath you shared; some of which i don’t have, but good to know). when i review my paper 1040, it all looks good so i’m guessing it’s probably an auto-calculation done in the background.
thanks to those responding. i’m seeing a familiar dynamic to the answers. Intuit-consider defining better in the info box? the references you have listed are not common and there was no reference when searched “intuit other income taxes” on the interwebs.
