Will I know if I somehow owe the irs? I keep getting emails and calls from what seems to be spam. But how do I find out if I actually owe something?

I have not received a letter that I know of.

The IRS does not call you---EVER--- and they do not email you. If you are getting calls or emails that claim to be from the IRS they are scams. Do not give any information to anyone who calls you or emails you and says they are from the IRS. The IRS will only contact you by mailing a letter to the address you used on your tax return.
