No, you will not get a refund for mailing your tax return instead of e-filing it. When you use online TurboTax you are not paying extra to e-file. Your fee is the same whether you e-file or mail the return in an envelope. The fee is not for e-filing; the fee is for using the tax software to prepare your tax return and do all of the calculations for you and put the data on the forms for you. Sorry.
All versions of Turbotax include free e-filing of federal returns, you pay for preparation of a tax return that can be mailed or e-filed. If you can't e-file, you still got a finished tax return that could be mailed and you did not pay extra for e-filing.
The only time you pay extra for e-filing is if you are using the desktop version installed on your own computer, in which case there is usually an additional $20-$25 fee for state e-filing. If you paid the state e-filing fee but were required to mail in your return, you can call customer support for a refund.
