Why would I need to share my financial institutions this year.

Turbo tax is asking for 1098. This is my first time I've heard about a 1098. Why do I need this?

Do you have a mortgage? If you have a mortgage then it should not be news to you that your lender sends you a 1098 every year. Or do you have a student loan----you will receive a 1098E for that. Or are you a student--did you get a 1098T?

A Form 1098 is sent by your mortgage lender for the amount of mortgage interest paid and property taxes paid in 2021. Is this what is being requested?

Or there is a Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement sent by a post secondary educational institutions reporting the amounts paid for tuition and any scholarships received. Is this what is being requested?
