Why wont turbo tax open?

downloaded windows product and hangs up while "checking for updates".  Why?

It usually has to do with your aggressive firewall/security system ... disable it while you download updates.  

If you are using the WIN version then shut off the auto updates and choose to update less often on your own schedule.   If you are using the MAC then use the program offline... shut off the internet connection.

Any chance you are using a VPN for yoru internet connection?

Might need to turn that off if you do.....but the possible need for doing that is a bit hazy
