Why were my 2021 state and federal tax returns rejected? Where exactly do I find this answer online?

I used the free online service, as I have previously before. I cannot find anything specific to answer this question in my account.

If you are trying to e-file your returns, you cannot, the Online 2021 version is shutdown for the season.  You will need to print, sign, & mail in your return.

It is too late for you to e-file 2021 now.   E-filing is closed.   The only way to file is by mail.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
