It would be hard for us to speculate in this forum why you refund is less than last year. 

Compare your returns side by side.  Even though you made more money this year, you may have actually paid less taxes.

The Payroll Tables were adjusted so that you may have received a few more dollars on each paycheck, but at the end of the year, paid less total taxes.

Many taxpayers have had to adjust their W-4 withholdings with their employers because of this and it could be affecting you.
