Why was I charged 24.99 plus 2.00 sales tax to efile state return when my software box states that state efiling fee is 19.99

TurboTax has increased the price of a state e-filing fee.  This happens each year, typically in March.  I agree with you that a printed price (as you've said is printed on your software box) should not change.  I'm told that all TurboTax prices are subject to change at any time and without notice.

You can always avoid the state e-filing fee by printing and filing your state return(s) by mail.
