Why is there a difference on Dividend income on income page and the detail in the update page.

On the income page the Dividend on 1099-DIV shows $x, when I click on it it shows $x minus $2000 approx. When I click on the update button the next screen shows the $x minus $2000 approx.

Thank you.

Unfortunately there are just so many Federal Forms, Schedules and Worksheets and so many TurboTax pages that that references to "income page" and even "detail in the update page" makes it tough to know where you are seeing what you're describing.

GUESSING that the "income page" is the TurboTax page titled "Your 2017 Income Summary" and that the "detail in the update page" is referring to TurboTax's page titled "Here's the dividend info we have so far" , then all I can say is that the total dividends on your income tax return can come from a variety of places where the "Here's the dividend info we have so far" only reflects information you've entered off of 1099-DIV's.  A common source of dividends that you might have overlooked is dividends reported to you on a Schedule K-1.  Those dividends would be included of the face of Form 1040 or on the "Your 2017 Income Summary" page but would not be included on the "Here's the dividend info we have so far" page.  They would be included, however on Schedule B.
