Why is there a $40 charge to file my tax return?

Trying to file my tax return and I see that there’s a TurboTax online thing and it’s asking for $40 to come out of my return or pay upfront and I do not want to pay that because I filed my own fucking taxes. I’m not paying for something I did myself.

You can go back and take the $40 off and pay by credit card.   Remove Pay with Refund fee

You can pay your TurboTax fees upfront using a credit or debit card and then you will not incur the $40 refund processing fee.  Pay the fees BEFORE you e-file.
