If you have received a Form 1099-MISC with box 7 checked, then you are considered a self-employed person and must file a Form 1040 Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ. You will have to upgrade to another version in order to report your income as self-employment income and deduct the necessary expenses against the 1099 income.
To upgrade you will need to do the following while in your return:
- Select Upgrade in the menu on the left side of the screen.
- Select the
version you'd like to upgrade to.
- We'll
prompt you to pay if you want to print or e-file your taxes. You can also
prepay at any time.
- Select File in the left menu. (You will not file your taxes, it
will take you to the payment section.)
- Select Start or Revisit next
to Review your
order.
- You’ll see
a summary of your order. Select View payment
options.
- Continue
until you see How would you
like to pay for TurboTax? On that screen, select Pay with your credit card.
- Enter your
credit card information and select Pay Now.
Once you’ve paid, you can begin
entering your Form 1099-MISC information.
