Why is our 2019 federal refund much lower than turbotax calculated?

TurboTax calculated our Federal Refund to be $450.  Because we filed the 1095A late we only just got our refund this week. But it is only $115. IRS is closed today.

The IRS will send you a letter explaining why they reduced your refund. It might be a few weeks before you get the letter. TurboTax has no way of knowing why your refund was reduced. They do not get any feedback from the IRS after your tax return is filed.

Ok ... so you forgot the 1095-A & 8962 when you originally filed the return  so  the IRS sent a notice asking for these forms correct ???

Then you went into the program and added the 1095-A to populate the form 8962 and sent them to the IRS Right ???

And   I bet you did not look at the new 1040 to see how the 8962 changed the bottom line.  So if you look now I bet you will see you got exactly the correct refund.

when 8962 reduces your premium tax credit, your refund goes down accordingly. That's how it works.
