Any chance that someone you know (Parents or an Ex) could have claimed you? If not, some other taxpayer may have miskeyed their own dependent's SSN, and ended up using yours. Or worse, you could be the victim of Identity Theft.
Print, sign and mail your return with a USPS Tracking Number; and watch your credit reports. The IRS will sort it out.
I was on the phone with my mother and she hasn't filed her taxes for 2020 yet. She has an appointment to do them in april. My father is not in the picture and doesn't live in the country. I don't have any exes. So I'm guessing someone might have accidentally put in their dependent's social incorrectly. What are steps I can take to fix this so I can claim my federal return and receive the stimulus? Is mailing the only other way?
