Why is it trying to give me the same amount that I entered as a Deduction?

I just put in my contribution to my IRA information from last year (it's not through my employer) and it's telling me that my deduction is the exact same amount as what I put towards the IRA. Is that normal?? My instincts are telling me I'm doing something wrong, but I followed the instructions....

No, that's correct. If you contribute to a traditional IRA and meet certain guidelines you get a deduction in taxable income dollar for dollar.
