Why is it showing that I owe 789.00 in State of IL taxes, when my income was 25971, and I paid 1285.51 in State taxes

The amount withheld corresponds to the IL tax rate, so you need to double check the amounts you entered when you entered the information from the boxes of your W-2's. Check boxes 15 and 16. And.....although IL does not tax retirement income----did you enter any other sort of income?
