This forum has no access to your return, so here are the rules for her to be your dependent - either a qualifying child or relative.
She must be a US citizen, resident alien or national or a resident of Canada or Mexico with either an SSN or ITIN .
Then you can claim him/her as a qualifying child if all these tests are met
•She has the same principal abode as you for more than ½ the tax year. Temporary absences are ignored. If she was temporarily absent or born during the year she resided with you for all 12 months.
•If she is not a full-time student, she’s under 19 at the end of the tax year. If a full-time student, she’s under 24 at the end of the tax year. (full-time means she attended school (online courses and correspondence schools don’t count) during any part of five calendar months during 2025)
• She hasn't provided over ½ his/her own support
• She didn't file a joint return unless there was no tax liability, but merely filed jointly to facilitate the refund of taxes withheld or estimates paid
or you can claim her as a qualifying relative if all these tests are met
• Her gross income for 2025 was less than $5,200
• You provided over ½ her support
So check your answers. if you have questions about any test, put them in this thread and resubmit
