The tax history report only shows the prior successive years, if you transferred in your 2017 tax file when you started the 2018 tax file. IF you didn't transfer in that 2017 tax file, or had a break in successively transferring in each of the prior year's tax files for any of those prior years...then there will be data missing for some, or all of the prior years.
IF you haven't gone into your 2018 taxes too far yet, you can start over with a NEW 2018 file, and transfer your 2017 datafile into that, right at the very beginning of creating a new file, and then at least the 2017 data will be in the History Report. Whether other years further back show depends on whether there was ever a file-transfer break at any point.
IF you've gone too far in to want to restart 2018...or have already filed your 2018 taxes, AND if you used TTX Desktop software for 2017, then you can open your 2017 tax file with the 2017 software, and print out it's tax history report, and use it side-by-side with the 2018 History report to compare year-to-year data.
I have been using turbo Tax for over 15 Years and after 2017 the TAX History stops working?
I always use the Transfer Tax info from the previous Years. I have all the Turbo Tax Disks and the saved tax files from the last 15 previous years. Please in explain in english how to fix this?
i use desktop and have NEVER had that problem
I have the exact same problem with TTx(Desktop) 2020. I started by importing 2019 data, but NONE of my 10-year History for the 2019 return transferred. There was NO BREAK in this period.
Why is 2020 TT not importing history data from 2019? !!!
@tphelps8625 It's a 5-year history.
1) Another thing to check , open your actual final 2019 tax file with the 2019 software...then look at that tax return in Forms Mode to make sure it's History sheet is intact. Save the file, then do an immediate "Save As"....to a special filename Like "2019 Transfer File"
2) Start up the 2020 software again and make sure you try running your desktop software update again.
3) ....then start a New 2020 tax return, and transfer in the newly named 2019 file. Begin entering a few pages of what it asks you to start entering, just to get it going, then check for the History report again in Forms Mode to see if it's there.
I have been using turbotax since 2016. I had the same issue for 2020 turbo tax on windows desktop version. I have completed all the required inputs but eventually found the tax history report ony has 2020 record. How can I fix this? Please don't tell me to start all over again. :(
@elego Sorry.....IF you transferred in the same 2019 data file that had a History report last year, and it didn't get the data into the 2020 datafile...then you're stuck. (I have no idea why it wouldn't be there if you started with the correct .tax2019 data file (((and a subnote...no....a xfered-in PDF file won't have it)))))

What you can do, is open your 2019 file and print out 5 copies of it's history report....then put them in labeled folders for the next 5 years to compare them with every year's re-started 5-year history. And now you've been burned, check for the re-initiated History report at the start of every year's new tax file to make sure it includes 2020--and beyond. ((Now you're going to have me checking for it right at the start of a new file every year too....even if I've never had a break...yet...)).
