Why does Turbotax tell me to file SE (self-employed) due to a minimal farm income (Farm income is 1% of W2 income)? I am a full time salaried person (W2).

The Self Employed version is the only online version that has the forms needed to enter farm income. You generally must use Schedule F or 4835 with Schedule E. It doesn't matter how small amount of farm income you have, it must be entered on your tax return. 

If you use the CD/download product, you can use any version because they all have all the forms.
