Why does my state return say I make $550,000 when my federal says I make $83,000

Go back to Federal>Wages & Income and check your entries for boxes 16 and 17 of your W-2.    You must have a user error----a typo, a misplaced decimal or added zero someplace.

Go back to the sections where you entered income, W-2 and/or Form 1099's.  Verify the state income that you entered is correct.  Also there may be a misplaced decimal point or a comma used instead of a decimal point.
