Why does inputting a 1099-Misc income that comes from stock options due to the sale of a former company you worked for create a Schedule C?

Schedule C gets prepared and assumes that the income comes from a business I, as taxpayer, operated and asks me to fill in information on the business.

You need to go back to the entries you made on the 1099-Misc. When asked "Did the Commission involve work tha's like your main job?" answer "No" (see screenshot)
