I filed her returns without incident but the saved PDF returns showed the "DO NOT FILE - FORM NOT FINAL" on the 1040A. This has me concerned whether the filed returns used the correct 1040A form or not.

The 1040A form will be available for print on 02/01/2018. You can e-file your return, and TurboTax will hold them for transmittal to the IRS until 01/29/2018 when the IRS officially start accepting tax returns, after which time the 1040A form will be available to print without the "DO NOT FILE - FORM NOT FINAL" mark.
