You can review your fees and see what exactly you are paying for your TurboTax service, to do this:

1. Open or continue your return
2. On Tax Home, select Start or Continue to enter your return
3. Select Tax Tools from the menu, and then Tools
4. A Tools Center box will pop up on your screen
5. Select My Fees

Were you expecting a $4,000 refund but the IRS sent you a bill for $1,980 instead?  One thing it could be....do you get Social Security?  If you get SS is there a taxable amount on 1040 line 6b?  People have been missing a screen or entering a question wrong.

Starting in 2024 after you enter the SSA-1099 the next screen is a new question asking if you lived in a foreign country. Was your 2024 return ok?   People were answering it wrong or skipping it. Go back through the Social Security entries and check, check for each spouse if married. If the IRS adjusted your return you do not need to amend.
