Why do i have to pay for state in deluxe ? after all these year to change now .

I fell like I just got sucked punched.  After years of using turbo tax you decide to charge for even one state return.

One state *software* comes with Deluxe in most cases.  Some dealers sell a version of Deluxe at a discount without a state download included.  There are 5 free Federal e-files.

E-fileing the state from the CD/download version has *always* been an additional charge.   For years (since 2001) I always e-file Federal for free, and print and mail the state for the cost of postage.

The online versions have a set fee that includes e-filing or mailing both Federal and state for the same cost.
