It could be due to many reasons.  For example, do you have any IL tax withholding on your W-2?  You might not have answered all the state tax questions correctly in the program.

Without seeing your tax return, it is hard to say.  I would suggest you consider our new product / features TurboTaxLive to file your 2019 taxes to have one of our tax professionals to take a look.  In the TurboTax program, once you complete your taxes, before you file, you’ll be given the option for a final review of your return by one of our tax professionals.  After they completed reviewing your return, they’ll inform you of any proposed changes.

It appears that the AZ State tax if $299.00 is based in my combined income from IL and Az not just AZ

i paid $411.38 in IL state income tax on $8,310.86 income.

I only made $3,900.00 in AZ

If you moved from one state to another, you would have declared that you were a part-time resident of both states and divided your income on that basis.

The opening questions in each of the states would have guided you to exclude the income from the other state.

If you were a full-time resident of one state and went to work in another state for a short period of time, you would file and pay taxes in the second state as a non-resident. You would take a tax credit in your resident state for the tax you paid to the non-resident state.

To enter this correctly in Turbotax, you should enter the non-resident state first, and then the resident state.

I would make sure that you have the correct state residency in each of the states you are filing in.
