The IRS wants to make sure that you're not claiming the same dependents, taking the same deductions, etc, when filing your returns separately.
if you lived apart during the last 6 months of 2025 and you paid more than 1/2 the cost of keeping up a home for yourself and your child who lived wiyj you for more tha 6 months in 2025, you may be ble to file as head of household, if you qualify for HOH filing status, your spouse's info does not need to be provided. one more thing if your filing status is married filing separately, both you and your spouse must use either the standard deduction or itemized deductions. Different methods can result in the second taxpayer filing having their return rejected
