Why didn't we receive Child tax credit for 2 out of 3 kids

My fiance claimed our child and his stepkids, who are my biological kids, last year. He got the child tax credit for our child together, but we didn't get anything for the kids who are only biologically mine and neither did their biological fathers. I was told that because I am a homemaker (a 24/7 job that doesn't pay) and fiance claimed me as a dependent that I and my sons are basically nothing to the government. Yes, an accountant told me this. This doesn't make sense to me. what do I do to fix this or can I at least get an explanation of what was meant by what accountant said and why or why we didn't get the child tax credit for my other kids? I have been searching for answers all year with no luck.

You did not qualify for stimulus money or for child-related credits because you were claimed as a dependent.   A dependent cannot claim a dependent.   Since your BF is not the bio-father of two of the children he could not get the child tax credit for them.  He can only get the $500 credit for other dependents for them.   Since you are not legally married they are not "step children" for him.   They are unrelated to him so he cannot get any other child-related credits for claiming them.   The only one he can claim for the child tax credit or Head of Household filing status is his own bio-child.
