Why did I get charged $119 to use the Deluxe edition for my federal and state returns when it should have only been $76.98?

They should be more clear..I never saw anywhere where it was a $39.00 to have it deducted from my refund, what a rip-off!! I am doing my sons taxes, who is mentally impaired and on unemployment thru the winter, he didn't need all these added fees.  I will probably be looking elsewhere to do my taxes this year.

Did you already e-file it?  If not, it is not too late to change using the refund to pay TT or even to change to a different version of software.

So sorry--if you already e-filed you cannot change it UNLESS the return is rejected.  Let us know if it is rejected so we can help.  The IRS will not be accepting/rejecting returns until January 28; after that you will get an email to tell you if it was accepted or rejected.

It's not clear where you saw $76.98. TurboTax online Deluxe is $39.99 for federal, $39.99 for state and if you have your fees deducted from your federal refund, it's another $39.99 for that service. That is where the $119 comes from. You can save $39.99 by paying with a credit or debit card.
