The tax code says you can not.   You are better off filing a joint return with her.

A spouse is NEVER a dependent.  You just file a Joint return for both of you, even if one person had no income.  Joint is better than claiming a dependent.  Joint has a higher Standard Deduction and there are several credits you can't get unless you file Joint.

Your wife is handled for tax purposes under the filing status - married filing jointly
