In TurboTax Deluxe for Mac, the inability to save and close the program usually happens if the software is still processing or if there is an issue saving your file.
Check the following:
1. Wait for processing: Sometimes TurboTax is finalizing calculations or saving data in the background.
2. Look for saved files: TurboTax saves your return as a .tax2025 or similar file in your Documents or chosen folder.
3. Close open windows: Make sure all data entry windows or forms are closed before trying to save and exit.
4. Check for software updates: Ensure you have the latest TurboTax updates installed for Mac.
The software doesn't use another file type for saving your tax return, but your return is saved in the file you last opened or created.
