Why can't I download my completed tax return onto my hard disk?

I can "download" the completed return, and I assume I can print it, but I want to save an electronic copy on my hard disk.  But it doesn't let me do this.  Why?

You can download the PDF and the tax data file from your online tax return.  The tax data file can only be opened by the TurboTax software for the year of the tax data file.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF) and Download .tax file

What do you mean save an electronic copy?  That's what downloading does.  It saves the pdf file or the .tax data file to your hard drive.
