Can you provide some more details? What task are you working on; rental expenses from Quickbooks? Or?
I have 22 "taxable" entries, some of which were imported.
I have 22 "taxable" banking & investment entries, some of which were imported by linking TT to the institution.
I have the same problem I can't believe this isn't causing confusion and errors.
Same here! Every year I’m reminded this still isn’t fixed.
It feels like a silly oversight that assumes nobody has multiple accounts at the same institution and needs to be able to tell one 1099 from another. The account numbers do show on the import detail screen, so TurboTax clearly receives them.
In our case, my spouse and I work at the same company, so we each have multiple accounts of the same type at the same broker for stock programs, plus our personal accounts there too.
My workaround:
I edit the “Received from” field to add a dash and the last four digits of the account number (e.g., “Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith - 1234”). It’s caused no filing issues for me over the past few years and makes it easy to see which 1099 I’m looking at without having to match dollar amounts to my downloaded PDFs every time.
You can easily change the name of each 1099 after entering it by going to "Forms" and then adding something unique. I add initials of either my wife or myself and then the last 4 digits of the account. Wish I would have thought of this years ago...
