Why am I still being charged for the max service and it didn’t do anything. Why not just charge the standard rate.

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons     (BEFORE you e-file) :

• Remove Premium Services
• Remove MAX Defend & Restore
• Remove a state
• Remove PLUS Help & Support
• Remove Pay With Your Refund

Also see if you can see your fees with this method.   With your return open, click the shopping cart icon at the top right.   Does a popup show your charges?    If so, you may be able to remove something to reduce your fees as @ xmasbaby0 mentioned.
