Why am I paying the state of Mississippi 600.00 and I’ve only worked in Mississippi from 11/13/2024 to 12/31/2024 . Ridiculous .

No one can see your tax return and we do not have enough information.   Did you move to MS in 2024?  Or live in a different state and work in MS for that short time?   What other state?    Was any MS tax withheld from your paychecks? (see boxes 16 and 17 of your W-2)

Been living in California for 41 years , did my taxes every year with no problems . I moved to Mississippi October 3 2024 . Stated work November 13 2024 . My W2 from the job . Line 1 $ 2775.00 . Line 2 $ 80.94 . Line 4 $ 172.05 . Line 5 $ 40.24  . Line 16 $ 2775.00 . Line 17 $ 13.00 . It says Mississippi state tax due $ 618.00 . What I am I doing wrong .
