Why am I paying $39 each to e-fie 2023 taxes with turbo tax?

I have been charged $39 for state and  another $39 federal to e-file ( a total of $78 through turbo tax)

Well...Yeah, for whatever reason you had to use "Deluxe"....and that's $39 + $39 for the state.

In a few weeks that will jump up to $69 + $59 for state, so you got off fairly cheap (though not free).

Just don't file until ~ 3rd week in January...filing now is STONGLY discouraged by everyone here.

If your AGI is $73,000 or less you can probably use an  IRS Free File option  when it opens in a couple of weeks.
