Which is the correct account for doing back taxes? Have a client stating she has not done her taxes for the past 3 years, and wants to know the cost to file now.

You cannot use TurboTax to prepare tax returns for clients. TurboTax is only for consumer use and cannot be used by paid preparers. Intuit (the company that makes TurboTax) has three tax software product lines for professional preparers: ProSeries, Lacerte, and ProConnect Tax Online. TurboTax Online cannot be used to file for past years. To file for past years you have to use the CD or download TurboTax software for the years that you need. You can purchase downloads at the following link. TurboTax is no longer available for years earlier than 2015.

Not personally a professional preparer....no worries there. I am her case manager at a mental health clinic that is trying to help her figure all this out to reduce her stress load, and help her navigate the system and figure out which edition for her to use on her own to achieve her goals.

Looks like the only options via that link are downloads with a cost (ranging 69ish to 169ish depending on which version/year). Does that mean that there is no free edition she could download for those years anymore?
