Where to report SGOV tax state exempt

Hello All,

In 1099-DIV form,

1a Total Ordinary Dividends = 1400

1b Qualified Dividends = 350

14 State = NJ

12 Exempt-Interest Dividends = 0

As per 1099-DIV, dividend from SGOV is $900. and in TurboTax i see

1 - NJ-Tax exempt interest income

2- Federal tax-exempt interest income

Where do i need to add this number option 1 or 2.. I know it is not full $900 but 95% of $900

To report the portion of your dividends that are U.S. Government Interest, and therefore not subject to state tax:

  • Enter your Form 1099-DIV
  • Click Continue
  • On the next page: Do these uncommon situations apply? check the box for "A portion of these dividends is U.S. Government interest.
  • Click Continue
  • Enter the amount of U.S. Government interest
