Where in my 1040 do I enter tax I owed the state when I filed in 2017? I owed $547 state taxes I would like to deduct that in 2018.

To claim last year's state taxes owed on your federal return go to:

- Deduction and Credits -> Income Taxes Paid ->  Other Income Taxes Paid in 2018 -> Balance due on your 2017 state taxes paid in 2018 -> Start
