I put my two 1099-misc earnings from the two companies I tutor for as an independent contractor, but where do I put the expenses for my tutoring contract business (milage, books and supplies, printer supplies, etc.)? I don't see any place to put them under any category.

In order to claim expenses against your 1099 income you should be using Turbo Tax Self-Employed which will walk you through where to enter in the income and all your expenses and then generate the Schedule C which will be reported with your 1040 and other tax items.
You can get to the Schedule C by:
1. Log in to your account
2. Click on continue my taxes
3. On the left-hand side is the menu bar, click tax tools
4. Click tools
5. Click Topic Search
6. Enter in Schedule C
7. Click go
