I forgot to enter my Ip pin

If you already filed expect to get rejected .. then you can enter the IP PIN and resend the return.

A 6-digit PIN is an Identity Protection PIN (also called an IP PIN) that the IRS provides for victims of ID theft whose cases they are working with. That is entered in a completely different program area--not in the efile section.

The regular Efiling PIN is 5 digits and will be encountered during the process of efiling.

If you have a 6-digit IP PIN to enter, here's where to enter it.

·         FEDERAL TAXES tab. (or Personal tab in Home and Business)

·         Then sub tab "Other Tax Situations."

·         Scroll down to "Other Return Info".

·         Find subtopic "Identity Protection PIN", and click START.

I forgot to enter my Ip pin

According to this IRS website, you must renew your IP PIN each year. After receiving the IP PIN, this is how you report. You are responsible for performing this action each and every year. Here is how to report once you receive it.

  •     FEDERAL TAXES tab. (or Personal tab in Home and Business)
  •    Then sub tab "Other Tax Situations."
  •    Scroll down to "Other Return Info".
  •    Find subtopic "Identity Protection PIN", and click START.

If you can't get the 2015 AGI and you don't remember the PIN you picked to file the 2015 return then you will just have to mail in the return.....

You do not need a PIN number from last year to electronically file your return.  You will however you will need your 2018 AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) in

If you used TurboTax last year you can view your 2018 AGI by selecting Documents on the left hand side of your screen.  Select View Documents from: Select 2018 on the drop down menu.

OR

You can obtain a copy of last year's tax transcript online using IRS link:  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

OR

If you have a copy of your 2018 tax return, your AGI is located on line 8b.

I forgot to enter my Ip pin

The IRS has discontinued the e-filing PIN option. To verify your identity for e-filing, you’ll need to use last year’s adjusted gross income (AGI).

The e-filing PIN isn’t the same thing as the Self Select PIN or the IP PIN.

What happened to the e-filing PIN?

You can find your 2018 AGI In a number of ways:

  • In your TurboTax Online or Mobile app account under Your tax returns and documents
  • On your 2018 originally filed tax return, form 1040 (Line 37), 1040A (Line 21), 1040EZ (Line 4), 1040NR (Line 36), Form 1040X (Line 1, column A)
  • By ordering a transcript on the IRS Get Transcript site, or buy a full copy of your return by following the instructions here.

The IRS requires your AGI for identity verification.

How do I find last year’s AGI?
