Where do I enter a 1099 misc for paying an attorney

As a self-employed individual, you will enter the amount you paid an attorney on Line 17, Part II, Expenses, of the Form 1040 Schedule C.

You can enter the amount by:

  1. Typing Schedule C in Search
  2. Scrolling to Expenses
  3. Clicking the Add expenses for this work button
  4. Scrolling and selecting Legal and professional fees, then continue
  5. Enter the description and the amount, click Continue
