Where can I see why my tax return was rejected and how do I fix it?

what year? 2021 e-filing is permanently closed and the 2022 e-filing won't open until sometime in January 2023.

I was hoping for 2021, is there nothing I can do to get the tax return now?

only professional tax firms have the ability to e-file 2021. you can buy Turbotax desktop software to prepare your return but that will have to be mailed in. if you are due a refund it will likely be months before you receive it. if you owe, the IRS will bill you for any penalties or interest 

you can buy the app from Turbotax or various websites. be careful about websites that sell at a steep discount you might purchase malware or the license may not be valid.
