If you have a 6 digit PIN issued to you by the IRS you need to enter it in order to e-file. Go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN and enter the six-digit PIN.
Only the IRS issues you a 6 digit Identity Protection PIN. If you did not receive this PIN from the IRS then you do not need to enter the PIN.
Not everyone has one. You can answer NO to the IP pin question and attempt to file. If you need the IP pin, your return will be rejected then you can use the link below to try to retrieve it. If you were issued one, it is required to e-file. Retrieve your identity protection PIN (IP PIN)
