the 1040 form is the tax return itself. Just ensure you complete the form for 2020 and the two stimulus payments for a child born in 2020 will be a credit which will increase your refund. It will appear on Line 30.
You can't file now. IRS is not open for accepting 2020 tax returns yet.
I you want the stimulus payments you will have to file listing your dependents.
In a couple of weeks,
visit the IRS at https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
to find truly free filing.
If you choose TurboTax, you must create a new account.
If you sign in with your existing account, you'll be back in the same place - not free - you're trying to escape.
You file a 1040 tax return each year. The Stimulus Check is really based on your 2020 return we are filing in 2021. So any amount you already got will be reconciled on your 2020 return line 30. If you didn't get a Stimulus Check (and qualify) or you qualify for more it will be added to your 2020 return. But the good news is if they paid you too much they won't take it back.
When you go through the federal review tab it will ask how much you got if any. Or to enter your stimulus payment in TurboTax, type "stimulus" (without the quotes) in the Search box, then click the link that says "Jump to stimulus."
When you enter your new baby, A child born (even on Dec 31) is considered to live with you the whole year. So pick the Whole Year at the top of the drop down box.
