When you go to the Injured Spouse/Innocent Spouse section of your return, the first two screens are associated with Innocent Spouse.

Go back to that section and delete any entries you have made in those first two screens, then move forward and complete the remaining screens for Injured Spouse

Use these steps to go to the Injured Spouse/Innocent Spouse section of your return:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)

  • This opens a box where you can type in “injured spouse” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)

  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to injured spouse

  • Click on the blue “Jump to injured spouse” link and enter your information

If deleting the entries manually does not do the trick, click the following link for instructions to delete a form.  Specifically, be sure that the Form 8857 is deleted from your return.
