If you want to make absolutely sure that there will be no changes or alterations, you should probably not file your return until sometime in late February or early March, unless you have a very simple return.
Thanks, but I'm under the gun with the Feds. If I don't file before Feb 1st, I'll end up paying penalties. I've been trying to complete my return since early January so not having critical sections of the TurboTax app ready is causing me heartburn !!!
what do you mean by "Deductions and Credits" as this contains many sections most of which are available at this point - if you click on that tab and you get a choice of how to enter income select "Ill choose what I work on" and then go to the specific sections you want. If you hit a specific topic/form that is stuck you can see forms availability in this tool
what deadline for Feb 1st are you talking about being "under the gun" for, the deadline to file is April 15th

Why? For what?
Up until yesterday, this is what I saw when I got to that section:
I could go Back but could not continue...
Maybe for you, but not for me. I have a $106,000 tax bill due. Most of which I've paid with Estimated Tax Payments. If I can finish my return and submit it and my remaining tax liability before Feb 1st, I can avoid underpayment penalties.... 🙂

Yeah, I get it, but you can always make a payment WITHOUT filing a return and avoid penalties.
The 4th quarter estimated tax payment was only due 2 weeks ago; shouldn't be a huge amount (like $500-$600, which is not a lot based on not paying over $100k on time).
Probably $30 grand or so. But I was hoping I could complete my return and just pay what I owe without guessing or overpaying. I've still got a couple of days - I can still make it !!! If not, well C'est la vie. 🙂
If you owe $30k and pay it now through IRS Payments, and having missed the 4th quarter payment (1/15), then you're only talking about .05% of around 150 bucks at this point.
presumably your ES payments are taking into account the safe harbor based on 2024 tax?
btw back to your issue with the section not ready - are you running desktop? win or mac?
make sure you have the latest updates there was one this morning (About Turbotax / More Info should have build date of 1/29).
that screen will display if a certain section is pending updates you should be able to navigate between the main section across the top and come back into Deductions and then select choose what you will work on and see the main list.
No safe harbor for 2024. My total tax for that year was less then $3k. I sold some stock in 2025 so this is a one time event. I estimated my 2025 taxes on the gains and paid the estimates. But I wasn't expecting to sell any stock in 2025 and didn't do so until the end of August so I only had Q3 and Q4 to cover the taxes. I don't have a problem with it except I wanted to take advantage of the Jan 31st deadline for filing and paying my remaining balance. I had hoped this would be done by now... :(
Yes, I check for updates every time I launch TB. It is the Mac Desktop Premier release with 2 states added. I was a software developer for Apple products before I retired so I know that no software release is 100% complete or bug-free when it ships. I've used TurboTax going back to when it was called MacInTax and it's always been a dependable product.
